Santorini

The traditional caldera cave houses of Santorini are divided between three main cities. Ia, Imerovigli, and Thera (Fera). Imerovigli is the least tourist-encrusted of the three, Ia has the best sunset, and Thera is the most cosmopolitan (though not by much). There is quite a bit to enjoy on Santorini, the wineries are fantastic but not the ones the cruise ships usually send people to. Santo wines seems an industrial operation, and Boutari seems bereft of a soul. Smaller wineries like Argyros Estate are the ones to see. While they may not even have a tasting room, the wines are often superior and you can speak with the winemaker directly - they're usually the ones pouring the wines.
